Our guided tours last 45 minutes and run on the half hour from 10.30am – 3.30pm.

Limited car parking is available in front of the museum.

Directions

Located in the small village of Ruthwell just 20 minutes drive from Dumfries and 30 minutes from the English border.
By Car

To get to the Henry Duncan Savings Banks Museum by car from the A75, follow the brown signs until you get to Carrutherstown. Take the exit for Ruthwell and follow the signs for Ruthwell Farm Road. The museum is located in a 200-year old cottage on the left side of the road.

By Bus

If you want to visit the henry Duncan Savings Banks Museum in Ruthwell, you can take public transport from Dumfries. 

Take the bus number 79 from Dumfries Buccleugh Street.

The journey takes about 25 minutes and costs £3.50 for a single ticket.

From the bus stop walk on to Kirklands Loaning, and then turn left and follow the road for another 300 metres until you see the museum on your right.

Accessibility

Although accessibility to all is important to us, the buildings are nearly 200 years old and some areas are simply unable to be accessed by less abled or wheelchair bound guests.
